One of Nike’s most coveted and anticipated collections is back again. The Black History month collection is probably Nike’s most prestigious collection right after their All Star collection. The BHM pack has always been a personal favorite of mine. Great moments in Black History and The Arts have always been synonymous; and it translates into this part of fashion as well. Over the years these silhouettes have been draped in different materials inspired by traditional African garb, the African Flag, gold accents to represent royal jewelry, and many other muses.
This year is no different consisting of a Lebron 14, Kyrie 3, KD 9, a Men’s and GS Jordan I, a Jordan Trunner, the Nike Lunarepic, a Nike Flare, and a Hi and Low Air Force 1. 2017’s pairs are dressed in black, white, and gold; and once again didn’t disappoint. Nike stated “Nike’s annual Nike Black History Month (BHM) collection has evolved from a single Nike Air Force 1 to an extensive product assortment. Over the past decade plus, the message has also evolved from an honoring of African-American athlete achievement to a wider celebration of Black heritage and the power of sport to fuel community action to create positive change. In that vein, the limited edition 2017 collection incorporates a decorative marbling — blending black and white — in reference to the strength of harmonious movement. Each design in the collection is also punctuated by gold accents, reminders of the power of coming together and the aspiration of unity.”
The Nike branded side of the pack will be available February 16th, and the Jordan branded models will release February 11th. Read more here on the entire Nike 2017 Black History Month Collection.
- Nike Kobe IX (2015)
Tough choice in this pack between the Lebron and Kobe, but the Kobe wins with his unexpected ultrahigh-top model.
- Nike Kyire II (2016)
Yeah the Kobe XI was pretty a much perfect in every color, the variance of color schemes and the Flyknit are phenomenal. But, the torch has been passed and Kyrie took it last year.
- Nike Lebron XI (2014)
Probably one of Lebron’s most slept on, the accents and detail are arguably the most of any of the BHM shoes to ever release.
- Nike Air Force 1 Hi Foamposite (2013)
There isn’t to say about these other than them being a true definition of flawless. Choosing copper on this model takes it to such a upper echelon.
- Nike Lebron X (2013)
The subtle 3m on these and how the shoe just transforms in the light make these a personal favorite for me.
- Don C x Jordan I (2013)
Jordan 1 x Don C x Premium Materials, do I really need to say anymore?
- Nike Air Force 1 (2009)
One of the earliest and rarest BHM pairs, and they are standing the test of time.
- Nike Air Max 1 (2012)
The AM1 is always clutch, but the color blocking on this rendition, is something to marvel at.
- Nike KD IV (2012)
The best KD and this is one of the models that made you think so.
- Jordan III (2011)
The first actual pack featured one of the hugest fan favorite models.
