A Drinking Man's Game: Jackson Morgan “Peppermint Mocha Liqueur”

Happy holidays folks and welcome back to A Drink Man’s Game. This week is pretty cool because I got to revisit not only my very first review, but also one of my favorites. We are just in time for the holidays and our friends from Jackson Morgan Southern Cream sent us their Peppermint Mocha Liqueur. Thank you guys for granting us the opportunity of reviewing such a quality product once again.

Let me kick this off by saying, Jackson Morgan strikes again! In the midst of the holiday season it’s evident that anything with peppermint will have a distinctive presence. You can bet that Jackson Morgan’s award winning Peppermint Mocha has that distinctiveness that makes you want to add this spirit to the drink cart year after year.

Throughout my drinking career , I’ve learned that liqueurs take a little more creativity but usually yield the best results. The consistency of Peppermint Mocha reminds me of other festive drinks like eggnog or coquitlam, but definitely brings something unique to the table. I truly wanted to make a drink that reminded me of the holiday season. The first thing that came to mind during the winter was hot chocolate. So, I decided to raid the Swiss Miss and marshmallows then create what I like to call the Cocoa Toddy. If you couldn’t tell I did my best Diddy impersonation there. Now I’m not sure if anybody has created something of the same likeness but I’m staking claim and ownership, and this will remain debatable. If you are a fan of peppermint and chocolate the taste will remind you of Andes Crem de Menthe candy. For those unfamiliar with that brand of candy, that is the brand of the mints that are left on hotel pillows. My world famous Cocoa Toddy is a delicious recipe that provided me with the perfect nostalgia that I was searching for. I’m well aware of there being some weirdos out there that are thinking; what if I don’t like hot chocolate? Or maybe someone who doesn’t have hot chocolate readily available. The Peppermint Mocha is definitely enjoyable chilled or on the rocks. Like it’s counterparts the Peppermint Mocha smoothness and flavor profile needs nothing to supplement it’s taste. However, if you like to try new drinks like I do, try out Jackson Morgan’s signature Peppermint Russian.

In reviewing Jackson Morgan’s lineup of spirits, I truly consider myself a fan of the brand. I promise I didn’t intentionally rhyme that last sentence. If you enjoy holiday spirits, when you hit the liquor store this weekend pick up a bottle of Jackson Morgan’s Peppermint Mocha. This will make your holidays even more enjoyable with the friends and family!
